La Rochelle

Our camping located near La Rochelle (40 minutes away) will allow you to discover this city during your stay: it is the largest city close to us.

La Rochelle is internationally famous for its old port. Since the 13th century, the town has been a major centre of activity, and its shipowners made it the most important French port on the Atlantic coast until the 15th century. Its trade was based on wine and salt. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it turned its attention to the New World, to Canada and the West Indies. Today it is a dynamic town with the largest marina on the Atlantic coast.

During your stay at our campsite, don't hesitate to take a trip to La Rochelle to visit the old port and its maritime fortifications dating back to the Middle Ages, visit the old town and stroll through its shopping streets with their arcades to protect you from the rain in bad weather.

Don't miss one of Europe's largest private aquariums opposite the old port, as well as the Musée Maritime de La Rochelle just next door.

It's a very popular tourist destination, and bustling all year round.

The terraces on the old port welcome you in the morning. After breakfast on the terrace, head to the bustling market to find all the local produce. Lunch or picnic, then explore the old town and shop in the streets near the Town Hall in the afternoon, dine on the old port or enjoy a themed evening.

You won't have seen the whole of this enchanting city with its thousand and one facets in just one day. Given the number of exhibitions, festivities, shows and festivals scheduled throughout the year, plan your stay at our campsite near La Rochelle in advance and we'll help you prepare.
