The Marais Poitevin is a unique site in Europe, also known for the part of its wet marshes known as the Venise verte.
Since 2010, this tourist site has been awarded the "Grand Site de France" label. It is bordered by the towns of Luçon, Fontenay Le Comte, La Faute sur Mer, Longeville sur Mer, La Rochelle and Niort.
The area boasts a rich and diverse fauna. The vegetation is highly specific, with aquatic plants, duckweed and marsh trees creating a unique atmosphere.
